It’s great to be back rowing out of Port Isaac again, there’s nothing quite like getting the gigs back on the water in our own harbour, and it’s been wonderful to see so many crews out training and enjoying the spring conditions. Our racing gig Roscarrock has now been shipped over to the Isles of Scilly, ready for the World Pilot Gig Championships over the May Bank Holiday weekend. After a strong winter of training in the gym and on the water, all crews are heading into the event well prepared and excited for a fantastic few days of hard racing.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Cake Sale on the Platt, which was a brilliant success and raised a fantastic amount towards our new gig fund. A big thank you also goes to everyone who came along to the Josh Curnow Gig at the Village Hall - it was a packed-out night with the whole room up dancing, a brilliant atmosphere, and a real highlight for the club. Thank you Josh and everyone who supported the event!
We’ve now officially launched our Crowdfunder for a new plastic gig, an important step in helping the club grow sustainably and reduce maintenance costs. We are incredibly fortunate that the Cornwall Social Inclusion Fund will match donations up to £5,000, but to unlock this we must raise 25% of our target from at least 25 people; that’s £2,500 in total.
Our target is £10,000, which we can increase later if needed, but the key is getting those first 25 supporters on board within the next 83 days. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us reach this milestone. Please do support us, if you can!

Looking ahead, we have a club social on the Platt on May 15th at 7pm, a great chance to “Come and meet the club”over some lovely food and watch rowing in action (weather permitting!). Regatta season is also now kicking off, with a busy calendar ahead including our own Port Gaverne Regatta on 12th July – so plenty to look forward to on and off the water!
We are always looking for new members so get in touch if you want to have a go and row with us!
