Autumn News
We’ve enjoyed some lovely autumn rows out of Port Isaac, making the most of the
opportunities to get out on the water. As the nights draw in, we’ll also have the option
of rowing from Rock.

A few weekends ago, some of our members embarked on an amazing hike over
Bodmin Moor, walking over 12 miles! It was a great way to kick off our winter
training, when we train weekly off the water to keep our fitness up during the months
when there are fewer opportunities to get out rowing.
We’re also training some of our members to become coxswains, combining theory
with practical training on the water. This will be a great asset to the club, giving us
more coxswains able to take crews out on the water.
We’re delighted to be featured as a Co-op community cause! Our aim is to raise
funds for a lighter, more stable and accessible training boat, helping us offer year-
round inclusive rowing opportunities for young people and adults with mobility needs
in our community.
The new boat would help us welcome more beginners to rowing, giving people the
chance to learn new skills, enjoy our beautiful coastline, improve their wellbeing and
make new friends through this wonderful Cornish tradition.
If you’re a Co-op Member, please consider supporting Port Isaac Rowing Club as
your local cause. You can sign in to your Co-op account or become a Co-op Member
to find out more and support our project. Every bit of support helps us make rowing
more accessible to our community.
Upcoming fundraising events
We have two fundraising events coming up!
Bingo Night is on 26 October at Port Isaac Village Hall. Doors open at 6.30pm, with eyes down at 7.30pm.
Our Quiz Night is on Friday 28 November at 7pm at Port Isaac Village Hall.
Teams can have up to six people, so gather your friends and come along for a fun
evening.
Both events will help us raise funds towards a new gig. We hope to see lots of you
there, and thank you for continuing to support Port Isaac Rowing Club!
